Alright, this blog is a result of a night long debate. We flatmates spent a whole night debating the best 10 comedy movies from Hindi cinema. 9 movies were unanimous choice & these 9 are as follows:

(There movies are not in any particular order)

# Andaz Apna Apna
# Chupke Chupke
# Golmal (Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee)
# Hera Pheri
# Chameli Ki Shaadi
# MunnaBhai MBBS
# Jaane Bhi do Yaaro
# Namak Halal
# Naram Garam

The one remaining spot we could not agree upon. My flatmate insisted that he would chose Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi to complete the list. However I am sure he says so because he has not seen Khosla ka Ghosla as of now (You cann't believe it right?? Neither could I when I heard that).

Please let me know what you think about it. Any movie we missed?

P.S: When you are as vehla as I was for the last few weeks, you will also push your flatmates to these levels of uselessness. Believe me ! !

Nice topic to be discussed for a change.. how come munnabhai mbbs and bheja fry were not in that list.. It started a revolution called 'gandhigiri' if you remember.

@ hells @ngel,
Well, these two did come up during our discussions. Bheja Fry lost out because somehow we felt that it was not a complete family entertainer. Munnabhai MBBS is there but I guess are talking about Lagey Raho MunnaBhai (Gandhigiri). We just thought it is not as good as the one's in the list.

How cme no Govinda movie in that list..surprise surprise ..its like nt picking up Gavaskar when u selct best Indian batsmen to play for India..
I knw the films u listed r truly worth watching ..but still Govinda must be having a unique place whn it comes to commedy as far as Bollywood is concerned..wht say?

anyway we will discuss it overnight..

cheers!!!

@ Amit,

Some of his movies like "Haseena Maan Jayegi" & "Dulhe Raja" did come up... but somehow it never made the cut.. & pls don't compare Gavaskar with Govinda. It's like comparing McDowell's number one with Jack Daniels, though McDowell's No. 1 has its share of fans still JD is a different league altogether. what say??

I agree that content wise none of his may make the cut .but common..u dont need pure content while selecting comedy film...it has to be innovative ..and when I say Innovative I mean in innovation in comedy not content..If u go thrugh all no1s Govinda made or other comedy..it will stand out frm others and dats what u want ..when u see comic film do u relly care abt the content that much or its the fun tht u r looking for? ..do u llok for content in Jim Carry moives??

I think u got wht I am trying to potray here..

@Amit,

It's not about the content... as I said we did discuss some of his movies but we thought the others were simply better.
